The plant commu-
nity is 80 to 85 percent grasses and 5 to 15 percent cactus and
weeds . Grass species makeup 850-6 to 90%, by weight, of the
non-cropland vegetation found on the site .
Irrigated cropland - covers about 76% (about 533 acres) . Historically,
these areas have been used as irrigated fields in which corn,
winterwheat, sorghum, or other cash crops have been grown. The
landowner will continue to farm areas that are not being mined
throughout the life of the mine . The landowners determine what
crops will be grown year to year and they will be responsible for
planting the backfilled areas when backfilling and topsoiling is
complete .
Oil& Gas operations areas - cover approximately 1% (over 6 acres) .
These area will not be disturbed by mining and have little or no
vegetation of any value . It is mostly weeds with some sparse grass
areas surrounding the roads and bare ground. These areas will not
be recoiled or seeded.
County Road ROWS. - this area covers approximately 0 . 5% (about 3 . 0
acres) . This area will not be disturbed by mining.
Farming Facilities - these areas cover approximately 2% (about 15
acres) . They contain houses, barns, sheds, livestock pens, corrals,
irrigation pumping areas and equipment parking/storage areas . Veg-
etation on these areas is usually very sparse and consists of weedy
patches and grass .
Water areas - these areas are within the banks of the Evans
42/Platte Valley Canal, the Platteville Ditch and the Cannon Return
Flow Ditch. The water surface areas at this time cover approxi-
mately 1 % (about 10 Acres) . These areas will not be mined.
L.G. Everist, Inc. Ragsdale Reservoirs 71 February 6,2020
