Raymond Mine—Limited Impact 110(2) Permit Application
Exhibit C—Mining Plan (Rule 6.3.3)
The proposed Raymond Mine is an underground gold and silver operation, consisting of four
underground mine openings and their associated surface features. There are underground connections
between these sites, which follow the complex vein systems in this district. Operation at these sites
began in 1906 and has continued intermittently up through the 1990s. This project will be a reactivation
of operations that were previously active. This operation will affect less than ten (10)acres.
The mining plan will include activities on five separate small parcels of land, all of which have been
previously disturbed by mining. A variety of different activities will occur on the different sites. The
sites are all on patented claim land, owned or controlled by the applicant. Please see proof of right-of-
entry in Exhibit G.
The following describes the sites that are included in this permit and their proposed activities:
Raymond Mine 4.30 acres Located near Gold Creek at 9,350 ft elev.
The site includes a portal, waste rock dump and several structures, as well as discharge piping to the
sediment pond. The pad has sufficient area for ore stockpiling and further waste rock disposal, plus
space for materials and equipment storage. The portal will allow access to the underground workings.
Upper Raymond Portal 1.80 acres Located in Spring Gulch at 10,040 ft elev.
The site includes a portal and waste rock dump. There is no portal discharge. The portal will allow
access to the underground workings and ventilation. The site may also provide access for ore
extraction.
Chloride Portal 2.00 acres Located in upper Jones Gulch at 10,350 ft elev.
The site includes a portal and small waste rock dump. There is no portal discharge. The portal will allow
access to the underground workings and ventilation. The pad on the waste rock dump will allow
stockpiling of ore and equipment storage.
Grand Prize Raise 0.50 acre Located in upper Jones Gulch at 10,600 ft elev.
The site is located above the Chloride Portal area, and includes a nearly vertical cribbed raise and a small
waste dump. The opening will allow access to the underground workings and ventilation, and possible
limited ore extraction.
These sites are all currently accessible by existing roads, which include primarily private roads, but also a
limited amount of Gunnison County or US Forest Service Roads (along Gold Creek). The roads will not
require any significant improvements;the roads are therefore not included in the permitted area
acreage.
The sites all contain mining-related surface disturbances and historic underground openings, though all
openings are closed at the time of this permit application (unless some limited reopening was
undertaken as part of this applicant's approved prospecting project). After the 110(2) permit is issued
all of entries of these sites will be reconstructed for long-term safety and access to the historic workings,
and underground rehabilitation will commence, with attention paid to the drainage and hydrology.
There are underground connections between these sites, and by permitting them as a group we can
