CRG Mining LLC
510 S. Wisconsin St.
Gunnison, CO 81230
January 8, 2020
Dustin Czapla
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Gold Links Mine, Permit M-1987-143, Request for Technical Revision, New Decline Portal
Dear Mr. Czapla,
With the materials enclosed herewith, CRG Mining is requesting a technical revision for the above-
named permitted mine. The requested change involves constructing a new portal approximately 150
feet north of the existing portal, well within the boundaries of the permit.
The Gold Links Mine has utilized a main portal to access and develop the workings, beginning with the
mine's historic start a century ago, and continues to utilize this portal throughout the decades of
operating under this permit.
We wish to construct a new decline from the permitted pad, driving back to intersect our 2150 vein at a
lower elevation. This will allow us to extract and haul ore more conveniently, as well as help to contain
any deep water we intercept in the mine.
The dimension of the decline drift will accommodate haulage equipment plus ventilation, etc. We
believe that the estimated 11,000 cubic yards of waste rock to be mucked from this drift can easily be
placed adjacent to the new portal location on existing disturbed land; no expansion of disturbed area or
dump will occur. We do not anticipate intercepting any mineralized vein material during the driving of
this decline. Waste rock will be placed in a stable manner, with a perimeter toe berm to control rolling
material and sediment. The footprint of waste rock to be placed measures approximately 80 ft x 180 ft.
Please see the enclosed map showing the mine site features and waste rock location.
As we have treated all our underground openings, this new portal will also have a well-constructed and
durable steel shed-type entry, competent and stable backfill around it, and include lockable steel doors.
This entryway will be secure for the mining period as well as suffice as a permanent structure for the
post-mining reclamation period. This is in conformance with the landowner's wishes for the site.
Since the portal and the waste rock disposal will be on existing disturbed ground within the permit, and
its installation will include durable materials and stable backfilling and grading, with no removal to be
required for reclamation, we do not feel that there will be any reclamation cost associated, and
therefore no increase in the bond.
(Cont.)
