EXHIBIT B SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> 1. Location and General Land Use Information <br /> The site is located along County Road T and is composed of and surrounded by dry rangeland. <br /> The site is approximately 7 miles south of Punkin Center, a small unincorporated community in <br /> Lincoln County. The parcel is currently leased for cattle grazing operations by the Colorado <br /> State Land Board. All cattle grazing will be segregated from the mining area via fencing. <br /> 2. Site Geology <br /> Site geology consists of 0-6 inches of topsoil over Holocene aged slopewash, silt, sand, and <br /> gravel. Gravel is equivalent to the Piney Creek Alluvium and post-Piney Creek alluvium derived <br /> from the Pinedale glaciation. Mining will occur to a depth of—15 feet below the present surface. <br /> There are no hazardous or acid forming materials expected to be encountered during excavation. <br /> See the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) soil report in Appendix 1 for more <br /> details on surface composition. <br /> 3. Surface Hydrology <br /> Prior to mining, the permit area has a very shallow slope to the east. Pre-mining topography is <br /> shown on the Existing Conditions Map. All of the runoff on the undisturbed site runs to the east <br /> towards Horse Creek. Horse Creek was mapped by the USGS in the Punkin Center, CO <br /> Quadrangle in 2016 as an intermittent stream. Intermittent streams are classified by their lack of <br /> flow during very dry times of the year paired with high infiltration rates for subsurface recharge <br /> during wetter months. <br /> Stormwater will be kept from entering the site from the west and north by the topsoil stockpile <br /> which will surround the site following the perimeter. The topsoil stockpile will be first developed <br /> on the western edge of the site and will encircle the full area over the mine's life. This perimeter <br /> topsoil berm is shown on the Mining Map. Stormwater that occurs on site will remain on site by <br /> perimeter berms; however, the porous surface of the site will allow for all stormwater to infiltrate <br /> the site and pit floor within 72 hours. <br />
