CYANIDE CONTAINMENT POLICY <br /> Policy: SOLUTIONS CONTAINING CYANIDE SHALL BE CONTAINED <br /> WITHIN THE VALLEY LEACH FACILITY,ADR BUILDING AND THE <br /> ASSOCIATED TANKS,EXTERNAL STORAGE POND,AND ALL <br /> INTERCONNECTING PIPELINES. NECESSARY PROCEDURES SHALL BE <br /> FOLLOWED TO PREVENT THE RELEASE OF CYANIDE. <br /> Implementation: <br /> Design, constriction, operation, and maintenance of the process components involving <br /> cyanide will adhere to the Cyanide Containment Policy. Any action or reaction <br /> undertaken by a CC&V employee will not occur until the potential effect on cyanide <br /> containment is assessed. <br /> Education: <br /> This Policy will be distributed to all CC&V Process Department employees and will be <br /> specifically addressed in new miner and annual refresher training. <br /> All employees with access to the cyanide containment system (VLF/ADR) will be <br /> required to know the general cyanide containment features of the facilities in order that <br /> they will not compromise (adversely affect)that containment with their actions. <br /> Design (containment, transfer, application, storage, and makeup): <br /> Equipment, sti actures, or facilities involving cyanide containment will be reviewed by a <br /> properly qualified CC&V employee, assisted as appropriate by qualified consultants,to <br /> ensure that the risks of cyanide release are appropriately identified, assessed, and <br /> minimized or prevented. Designs and specifications shall be developed as necessary to <br /> achieve and maintain containment of cyanide. <br /> Construction (implementation of designs): <br /> Construction will adhere to approved designs unless substantive changes are reviewed <br /> and approved. Construction activities will be coordinated with operations to assure <br /> cyanide containment. <br /> Operations (Reagent supply,makeup, storage, transfer, application, and other <br /> beneficiation steps involving cyanide): <br /> The cyanide containment system and the components of cyanide solution conveyance <br /> application, removal, and recovery will be reviewed for integrity on a routine basis.
