The requested release is
for approximately 201.85 acres of reclaimed surface facilities, mine ventilation boreholes, drill
pads and associated roads, as well as facilities that have been repurposed for industrial or
commercial uses. Reclamation work was completed in the areas requested for release between
1996 and 2017. The application requests the release of 60% of the bond applicable to areas
proposed for Phase I release, 85% of the bond applicable to areas proposed for Phase II release
and 100% of the bond applicable to areas proposed for Phase III release. The surface ownership
is federal and private, and the coal mined was federal and private.
We will contact you to advise you of the Division's required bond release inspection of the site as
soon as it has been scheduled. A proposed decision on the application will be issued within sixty
(60) days of our inspection.
If you have questions or need additional information, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Leigh D.
