PERMIT#:M-1982-131 <br /> INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:ECS <br /> INSPECTION DATE:November 20,2019 <br /> OBSERVATIONS <br /> This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted by Eric Scott of the Division of Reclamation Mining and <br /> Safety(DRMS). The site entrance is located on the east side of 25th Avenue in Greeley immediately north of <br /> the intersection of West F Street and 25th Ave. DRMS met permittee representative Randy Bucklen at the site <br /> scale house and toured the site with him after a brief discussion of site history. The site identification sign was <br /> present on the scale house (photo 1), however, the required boundary markers were not present. This has been <br /> noted as a problem on the first page of this report. The permit boundary markers will need to be surveyed in <br /> and replaced, and proof that this has been completed (photos/GPS coordinates of markers) submitted to DRMS <br /> prior to the corrective action date listed (1/31/20). <br /> The 77 acre permit for this site is comprised of three separate areas. The"original permit"area is located in the <br /> center of the current site, and has been mined out. The original permit area is now an open water area within a <br /> larger unlined reservoir. <br /> "Amendment Area A" is located southeast of the original permit, and is where current mining and reclamation <br /> activity is taking place. As the stockpile of product material is removed from the pit floor,the weathered shale <br /> from the pit floor is excavated and used to seal the perimeter of the pit prior to backfilling to the final 3H:1 V <br /> slope. This area is intended to be a compacted clay lined reservoir when mining is completed. The far <br /> southeast end of this pit area will be backfilled to approximate original grade and transferred to the City of <br /> Greeley to provide access to City open space areas. <br /> "Amendment Area B" is located immediately NW of the original permit and is where the product processing/ <br /> stockpiling and loadout/sales is currently occurring.
