J-4
Wetland Sample Point W-1 is within the central course of the Ennis Draw intermittent drainage feature
at a location proximal to the common line of Sections 12 and 7, respectively(and within the NE1/4
NE1/4 of Section 12). Wetland Sample Point W-2 is proximal to the Ennis Draw ponded area within
the extreme SE1/4 SE1/4 of Section 12; and,Wetland Sample Point 3 is located about 1,000 ft.to the
northeast of W2,again within the central course of the Ennis Draw intermittent drainage feature along
the common line of Sections 12 and 7,respectively.
From the foregoing, it can be seen that, with the exception of wetland species that are confined to the
narrow Ennis Draw corridor, the primary vegetation species observed to be present at and around the
Permit Area are cheat grass, wheatgrass, salt grass, and Indian rice grass, all of which are typical of
areas within the region which have been subjected to many years of livestock grazing.
(b) The relationship of present vegetation types to soil types, or alternatively, the information may be
presented on a map,and,
Discussion pertaining to the relationship between present vegetation types and soil types present within
the Permit Area is provided in the foregoing Item(a), and to a greater level of detail within Exhibit I:
Soils Information.
Refer also to Exhibit C-3: Affected Area-Vegetation Mapping and Exhibit C-4: Affected Area-
Soils Mapping, respectively, for aerial imagery and mapping units depicting the vegetation and soils
(and topographic) correlations.
(c) Estimates of average annual production for hay meadows and croplands, and carrying capacity for
range lands on or in the vicinity of the affected land, if the choice of reclamation is for range or
agriculture.
Rangeland is the current use of the Permit Area in its entirety; and, rangeland is the
identified/designated post-mining land use.
Accordingly, CSC commissioned a study to determine the average annual forage production and
estimated carrying capacity for the Permit Area. The study(RETTEW; October 17,2019)assumed a
nominal 3,200-acre area, encompassing the five (full) "sections" within which the Permit Area is
defined. CSC notes, however, that the (finalized)Permit Area actually encompasses a slightly lesser
Keenesburg No. 2 Mine_112 Reclamation Operation—November 22, 2019
