Introduction
The Detroit City Mine has been operating under an approved I I0(1) reclamation permit. Colorado
Calumet Co, Inc. is applying for a conversion from the approved I I0(1)hard rock reclamation
permit to a 110(2) hard rock reclamation permit with the Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining, and Safety in order to accommodate an expansion in the permit area from 4.99 acres to 9.5
acres. This expansion in the permit area is required to accommodate an additional 0.4 areas of
parking that was created adjacent to the access road. The addition of 0.4 acres of parking will
increase the area of the operation to more than 4.99 acres, necessitating this conversion from a
110(1) reclamation permit to a 110(2)reclamation permit.
The mine is situated along the west side of Mt. Bross. The entire mine will be on 9.5 acres of land
located in the NW 1/4 and of Section 33, Township 8S, Range R78W of the 6th P.M. in Park
County. The site is accessed from CO 9 via County Road 8 and a private access. Its location can be
seen in Figure A-1.
Mining will take place entirely underground, with the permit area encompassing related surface
activities. This conversion from a I I0(1) to a 110(2)reclamation permit will specifically
accommodate the increase in the footprint of the parking area adjacent to the access road.
The permittee for this site is Colorado Calumet, Co Inc, (CCC). The landowner is Sweet Home
Rhodo, Inc.
The entire site will be reclaimed to alpine forest and mountain slope, depending on the elevation.
Only portions of the existing permit addressing disturbance area are being revised by this
conversion. Where the currently approved 110(1) permit is not being changed, appropriate
references to the approved permit can be found.
Detroit City IV1ine (--g 1 A` is►.and Ass i»tea.P1 11
October 2019 i-1
