PERMIT#:M-1990-070
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:LJW
INSPECTION DATE: September 25,2019
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division
of Reclamation Mining and Safety. The Eureka Pit is a 110c operation located approximately eight miles
Northeast of Silverton on County Rod 2 near 9900 Ft in elevation. The site consists of three permitted acres
on the North side of County Road 2. The site was not active during the time of the inspection and no Operator
representatives were present during the inspection. Three photos accompany this report to illustrate the
current site conditions.
According to the annual reports provided by the Operator the site is no longer active, however is still used as a
stockpiling and processing area. Proper signage was observed at the entrance to the site and as seen in Photo
One, the boundaries are clearly marked with boulders and t-posts. Several small stockpiles are located within
the permit area, as well as a portable grizzly screen as seen in Photos Two and Three. Some miscellaneous
items are being stored on site, such as culverts and other road maintenance materials. The items are stored in
neat and orderly fashion and not considered a problem at this time.
Portions of the site have begun to revegetate with volunteer trees, shrubs and various grasses. No noxious
weeds were observed during this inspection. There is a small ditch that runs through the center of the site
towards the county road that was left undisturbed during the mining process. No signs of significant erosion,
settling or slumping was observed on site. No problems or possible violations were observed at this time. All
responses to this inspection should be directed to Lucas West at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203, or by phone at 970-243-6368.
Inspection Contact Address
Luis Girodo
San Juan County
1512 Greene St
Silverton, CO 81433
