October 14, 2019 C-1994-082/toast Mine RAR
A slump was identified in parcel 2. This parcel is part of a cluster of parcels (28, 66, 59, and 19), slated
for phase II and III release. The slump had stabilized over time as shown in the photo below and no
issues were noted. The slump area had been rescinded in 2012 from a phase I(SL4), and excluded from
SU, a phase III bond release. Phase II and III vegetation sampling occurred simultaneously in 2019 for
this parcel. Vegetation comprised various grasses: wheat grass and orchard grass and mature stands of
sage brush. This area comprises Federal ownership.
W4
iG
WlEvnr
re r
26
d
Ili
u
, .
.ice. u i
m w
i
t
y n
ow
vu
14
Photo S: Inactive slump in Parcel 3.
Continuing south down the haul road we entered a block of phase III parcels (35, 38, 39, 40, and 83).
Constructed drainages YPM 1 to YPM6 were walked into phase II parcels 82 and 77. Vegetation
comprised a diversity of species apropos to the seed mixture and constructed drainages were in good
condition and functioning appropriately. A weedy patch on a south facing slope in parcel 82 was noted
near the constructed drainage,YPM7. The parcel was seeded in 2007 and received phase I in 2017. As
we moved into the confines of the bottom of the draw a stand of Canada thistle was noted, predominantly
on the south facing slope. The operator,as the land owner, committed to treating the area and continuing
to monitor the area after phase III release.
Proceeding out of the draw and up the slope above pond 12A we ascended through parcels 39,40, 83 16,
33 and 32, also phase III. Vegetation was dominated by desirable species included in the prescribed
seed mix; (wheat grasses and wild rye),pacific aster, sage brush(parcel 16 shrub plot), and an abundant
amount of alfalfa, particularly in parcels 83 and 16 that showed substantial browsing pressure. A swath
of foxtail was observed along drainage YPM5 a series of wire enclosures were noted in parcel 40 as
shown in photo 7 below. The operator agreed to remove these items. The Surge tank ST 1 was dry and
the associated drainage YPM3 and YPM 1 were walked where a number of shrub/tree enclosures were
found to be well established and mature.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
