Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program
CLOSEOUT REPORT
ACTIVE MINE BOND FORFEITURE PROJECTS
PERMIT INFORMATION
Permit Number Operator Name Mine Name
P-1990-064 Nova Natural Resources Bassick Mine
Group
Type of Mine: NOI Commodity- Metals
PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS
The Bassick Mine is located east of Westcliffe, Colorado, along Rock Creek north of Querida Road (County Road
341) Custer County. The mine permit was issued to Nova Natural Resources Group in 1990 for prospecting
operations in a permit area of 1/4 acre. Prospecting activities included drilling and excavating an existing dump
on the southeastern side of the main shaft. In September 2004 the Mined Land Reclamation Board conducted a
formal hearing and found the permit to be an abandoned site and terminated the NOI. The financial warranty
was forfeited and the bond money in the amount of $1000.00* was forfeited.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Type of Bid Documented Quote Purchase Order
(circle one) Invitation for Bid IDirect Bill
PO Number: Contractor Name & Address: Construction Bond Amount (after 5%
PO-2020-xxxx Dates: administrative fee removed):
Ken Houston Excavating $2053.00*
6635 County Road 28 Start: 9/12/19
Cotopaxi, CO 81223 • Seed $700.00
• Contract Work $1950.00
End: 9/13/19 Project Cost: $2650.00
Construction Work Description
Roughly 112 acre including the mapped permit area was revegetated for reclamation. The ground surface was
roughened with a disc, seed was spread by hand broadcast, then raked into the soil to form a good soil bond. The
area on the slope of the dump was hand broadcast with seed and raked.
Remaining Reclamation Requirements and Estimated Cost: The site was beginning to self-seed, and
supplementing with additional beneficial native seed mix should encourage vegetation growth to control erosion
and establish native plants.
*NOTE: Permit file for P-1990-064 indicates $1000.00 held for bond, however CORE system dating back
to 8/1/2014 indicates that $2053.00 was held for P-1990-064.
15 rojat a gr,, Senior Project Mana 19
Date( I Date
1
