A total of 850
gallons (27.4 GPD) were evacuated from the leak detection system and pumped to the LTF. The LTF
underdrain system flow was measured to be approximately 35.0 gallons per minute(gpm).
West Pit Waste Water Treatment Plant
During the month of September 2019,the West Pit Water Treatment Plant was operated under Colorado
Department of Public Health and Environment(CDPHE)CDPS Permit No.C00045675 for discharge into
the Rito Seco alluvial aquifer. During the month of September, 7,368,800 gallons (22.61 acre-feet) of
treated water was discharged to the Rito Seco and no water was transferred from the West Pit to the LTF.
There was no sludge transferred from the water treatment plant drying pad to the LTF.
BMRI performed the monthly visual seepage expression inspections on September 3022019 in the historic
seepage area identified in Figure 2 of the permit. No seepage expressions were observed in the historic
seepage area during September 2019.
BMRI measured the monthly West Pit backfill, alluvial and monitoring wells as required under in the
QA/QC Plan. Measurements obtained for the monthly wells are shown in Table 3.
Table 3-Monthly and Quarterly Groundwater Depth to Water
Monitoring Well Identification Observation Date Depth to Water
(ft)
BF-4 09/30/2019 24.95
BF-5R 09/30/2019 30.84
BF-6 09/30/2019 30.97
M-6 09/30/2019 DRY
M-7 09/30/2019 DRY
M-8 09/30/2019 DRY
M-9 09/30/2019 141.54
M-10 09/30/2019 25.55
M-11R 09/30/2019 38.84
M-12 09/30/2019 174.84
M-13R 09/30/2019 125.86
M-14 09/30/2019 130.92
M-15 09/30/2019 92.97
M-16 09/30/2019 22.84
M-17 09/30/2019 30.52
M-18 09/30/2019 26.74
M-19 09/30/2019 23.96
