These were characterized as <br /> follows: <br /> Isolate 5MF8729 is an extra-large sized, white chert flake exhibiting utilization. <br /> Elevation is 5880 feet. Soils are Torriorthents-Rock outcrop, sandstone complex and are <br /> characterized as channery sandy loam and channery clay loam. Unweathered bedrock is <br /> shallow, found 14 to 18 inches below the present ground surface. The nearest source of water <br /> is an ephemeral drainage 300m to the west, while the nearest source of permanent water is an <br /> unnamed spring, located 765m to the east. Vegetation is juniper trees, sagebrush, and <br /> saltbush. <br /> Isolate 5MF8730 is a medium sized, maroon quartzite flake exhibiting utilization. <br /> Elevation is 5840 feet. Soils are Torriorthents-Rock outcrop, sandstone complex and are <br /> characterized as channery sandy loam and channery clay loam. Unweathered bedrock is <br /> shallow, found 14 to 18 inches below the present ground surface. Vegetation is juniper, <br /> sagebrush, and saltbush. The nearest source of water is an ephemeral drainage 495m to the <br /> west, while the nearest source of permanent water is an unnamed spring, located 560m to the <br /> east. <br /> Isolate 5MF8731 is a dark green siltstone core chopper(25x2Ix7.5cm) and a very <br /> large sized gray quartzite interior flake that exhibits utilization. Elevation is 5880 feet. Soils <br /> are Torriorthents-Rock outcrop, sandstone complex and are characterized as channery sandy <br /> loam and channery clay loam. Unweathered bedrock is shallow, found 14 to 18 inches below <br /> the present ground surface. Vegetation is juniper trees, sagebrush, and saltbush. The nearest <br /> source of water is an unnamed spring, located 335m to the northeast. <br /> Isolate 5MF8732 is an extra-large sized, white quartzite flake exhibiting utilization. <br /> Elevation is 5760 feet. Soils are Massadona-Youngston moist complex and consist of loam <br /> and silty clay loam or loam and stratified very fine sandy loam to clay loam. Vegetation is <br /> juniper trees, sagebrush, and saltbush. The nearest source of water is an unnamed spring, <br /> located 485m north. <br /> These large utilized flakes are typically used in butchering activities. They lack the <br /> potential to yield additional significant information, and are field evaluated as not eligible. No <br /> further work is recommended for them. <br /> 8 <br />
