LOWER REFUSE PILE RECLAMATION - TR-27
TR-27 Refuse Pile Configuration
Technical Revision 27 (TR-27) expands the overall footprint of the existing
waste bank west to the adjacent hillside and includes the area north from the
existing high bank to just south of the old bath house facility. The face of the bank
will have a surface slope of 2.5:1 or less as stipulated in the original design.
Due to the relatively small size of the lower part of the refuse pile, at the time
of final reclamation the lower refuse pile will already be in its final shape because
"final shape" will be maintained at all times as the pile grows.
The road which serves as access to the top of the waste pile will be left in place
as per request from Lawrence Huntington (See Appendix 12(1). This road is an
easement to Mr. Huntington's property.
TR-27 Topsoil and Fill Cover Material
3.5 feet of cover will be placed on all previously uncovered surfaces prior to the
addition of plant growth medium.
Final reclamation of the lower part of the refuse pile requires that there be 3.5
feet of cover and 6 inches of topsoil on top of the waste pile. This will require
approximately 23,882 CY of cover material and 3,412 CY of plant growth medium.
Plant growth medium will be spread evenly to a finished depth of 6 inches and the
area planted per methods outlined in this section. Most of the increased waste pile
area is within the existing boundary limits and the topsoil was removed when the
mine was originally constructed. The limited areas within the existing boundary
which do have existing vegetation shall have the vegetation removed prior to
stockpiling any suitable topsoil material.
Future waste pile reclamation will entail stockpiling plant growth medium and
fill material which will be salvaged while extending the waste pile as it grows. As the
waste pile slowly increases in size, all available fill material and plant growth
medium will be removed and stockpiled at the east boundary of each 5 year design
phase. As the face of the pile rises, material from this stockpile will be drawn upon
and used to reclaim the face of the waste pile as outlined above. Should additional
fill material be required at final reclamation, suitable material from the designated
borrow area will be used.
GCC Energy, LLC King I Mine
Section 2.05.4
Page 11 June 25, 2019 (TR-27)
