TR-27 has been submitted to create a Lower Refuse Pile in an area of the
existing, previously disturbed, lower yard area of the King I mine site. This area will be
used primarily as a refuse pile to be used during the winter months due to the dangers
and difficulties of hauling refuse to the existing Refuse Pile. In addition, the overall
appearance of the "pre-law" King I site will be improved with the re-contouring of the
lower yard as proposed in TR-27.
An engineering design and report has been prepared by Stoner Engineering of
Cortez, Colorado and is included in this permit application package as Appendix 10(4).
This engineering report refers to Maps King I-007 and King I-007A of this permit
application package. Stoner Engineering has been performing engineering tasks and
inspecting the King I and King II mine sites for many years and is well qualified for this
type of design.
In preparation of the report for the TR-27 submittal, Stoner Engineering
requested a geotechnical evaluation by Trautner Geotech, LLC (Consulting
Geotechnical Engineers and Material Testing) of the King II mine materials currently
being deposited on the existing King I Refuse Pile. The Trautner Geotech report can be
found in this permit application package as Appendix 10(4A). The material as tested
will be the same material which will be deposited to construct the Lower Refuse Pile.
This material has been determined to be suitable for the proposed use.
GCC Energy, LLC King I Mine
Section 2.05.3
Page 2A November 27, 2018 (TR-27)
