Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
To: Rob Zuber
From: Zach Trujillo
CC: Jason Musick
Date: October 3, 2019
Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine MT-5
As requested, I have performed a Reclamation Cost Estimate (RCE) update for the Bowie
No. 2 Mine Midterm Review No. 5 (MT-5). The total value of this estimate is
$10,149,223.00 (see attached cost estimate). The following comments summarize the
primary increases in the attached RCE:
• Truck/Haul tasks increased—8%
• Dozer tasks increased—15%
• Scraper tasks increased—23%
• Ripper tasks increased—16%
• MR-199 was included(new task 9047)
• MR-200 was included(task 9165)
The Division holds a performance bond in the amount of$10,971,057.58 for the Bowie No.
2 Mine. With the amount calculated for the Bowie No. 2 Mine MT-5,the Division will hold
$821,834.58 more than the minimum liability required and will not need to post additional
bond monies. The amount of$10,149,223.00 is sufficient to assure completion of the
remaining reclamation work to the Colowyo Mine if the work had to be performed by the
Division, including the cost of reestablishing vegetation on any revegetated areas, should
those areas fail.
This concludes my review of Bowie No. 2 Mine's MT-5 RCE update. If you have any
questions, feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Zach Trujillo
Environmental Protection Specialist
(303) 866-3567 ext. 8164
Zach.Trujillo@state.co.us
