The weather was warm,
and the ground was dry. No MINREC, Inc. representative was present.
A small number of cattle were seen onsite.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(1):
A check at the Garfield County building in Glenwood Springs revealed one problem with the records for the North
Thompson Creek Mine. The current permit document was not found; the one on record expired in 2018.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage—Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The following ponds were inspected: the Long Pond, Treatment Pond T-1, Treatment Pond T-2, and the Polishing
Pond(Pond 9). No problems were identified with the ponds. They were all discharging, and the water
discharging from Pond 9 (the bottom of the system) is relatively clear. The Refuse Pile Pond was not inspected.
The Long Pond contains only a few cattails, as noted in the August inspection report. It is unclear why the number
of these riparian plants has decreased.
No signs of recent impacts from the mine were seen in the creek or on its banks.
The aeration ditch above the Long Pond was inspected. No erosion problems were seen.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 7
