(GEI)is submitting this
Technical Revision(TR)to the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
(DRMS) 112 Construction Materials Reclamation Permit M-1973-021. This TR presents
the preferred locations and design for the required groundwater monitoring wells (MW's)
to be installed within the South Quarry of the Morrison Quarry.
INTRODUCTION ry
m o '
As part of the 2018 M-1973-021 AM-06 Adequacy Review, the Colorado Office of the y I
State Engineer(SEO) is requiring Al to install MW's. The SEO provided the following
comment in their review: "because it can be difficult to tell the source of water in an
excavation, this office requests that the applicant be required to install piezometers around
the South Quarry to measure the groundwater level and demonstrate that the excavation is
not exposing groundwater" (SEO, October 2018).
In discussions with the DRMS, GEI has confirmed that a total of 3 MW's will be required
to develop adequate groundwater data for monitoring purposes.
PROPOSED MONITORING WELL LOCATIONS
GEI has selected the proposed locations(shown in Figure 2) for the MW's. Installation of
the MW's in these areas is intended to meet the following objectives:
• Install the MW's in locations where they will not interfere with ongoing mine
activities during installation or monitoring [Operations].
• Placed in locations to minimize the risk relating to rockfall hazards for personnel
during installation and monitoring [Safety]
• Installed where they will not be damaged or destroyed during ongoing and future
mine blasting operations. Damaged or destroyed MW's would require re-
installation at significant expense to AI [Longevity].
www.aeiconsultants.com GEI Consultants,Inc.
2625 Redwing Road,Suite 370,Fort Collins,CO 80526
970.224.7342 fax:303.662.8757
