The inspection
was completed by Clayton Wein of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(the Division). The mine site
is a revoked site,therefore,there was no company representative to be present for the inspection. The weather was
clear and breezy with a temperature of 73 degrees F. The ground conditions were dry.
FISH and WILDLIFE—Rule 4.18:
During the inspection, several sets of deer tracks were observed along the haul road. Lizards were also
observed on south-facing rocks in multiple locations throughout the site.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage—Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The sediment pond is located near the entrance to the site. The pond was dry at the time of the inspection
(Photo 1). The discharge outlet was stable and clear of blockages. The embankments for the pond were stable
with established vegetation. There were no indications of erosion. Gullies along the haul road have been
identified in previous inspections by the Division. The gullies have not enlarged since the last inspection. The
gullies did not appear to have affected the stability of the reclamation along the haul road. The outslope of the
portals bench has a riprap lined channel to divert runoff to the sediment pond. The channel was stable and in good
condition. No water was observed in the channel.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The haul road was vegetated and stable(Photo 2). No new erosional features were identified during the
inspection. The cut-slopes along the haul road were stable. The portals bench was stable with well-established
vegetation. There were no indications or erosion were observed. The outslopes of the portals bench were stable
with minimal vegetative cover(Photo 3). The outslopes are south-facing and have never been able to grow in
large amounts of plants. The Division has documented this in previous inspection reports.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 5
