PERMIT#: M-2014-051
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: September 4,2019
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection of the Franson Pit (M2014-051) an active, 9.9 acre, 110c sand and
gravel permit located approximately 17 miles north-northwest of Yuma, CO, approximately 4 mile north of
County Road 54 on the east side of County Road C. The inspection was conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS who
contacted equipment operator Don Bueltell upon arriving on site. DRMS attempted to contact the permittee,
Aaron Franson, at the number on file with the Division on multiple occasions, however there was no answer
and no answering machine to leave a message with. The site identification sign was present at the site
entrance (photo 1).
The site was being actively mined during the inspection (photo 4). DRMS will remind the permittee that that
the current excavation along the north side of the permit, and northeast corner of the permit is now very
close to the approved permit boundary, and should not be advanced any further.
The two following boundary marker issues were noted during the inspection and will need to be addressed as
specified by the corrective action date listed on the first page of this report.
1) Three of the four permit boundary markers have been knocked down (photos 3 and 5) and will need to be
replaced.
2) The SE Corner marker is incorrectly located in the field (see attached map). This marker will need to be
replaced in the proper location (approved SE, approximately 160 feet north from current location) as shown
on the attached map. This issue was also noted in the previous inspection report dated 7/2015.
No other issues were noted during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Aaron Franson
Franson Family Partnership
49627 County Road L
Yuma,CO 80759
