RECEIVED
Colorado Division of RECLAMATION Mining and Safety SEP 0 4 L019 Aug 28, 2019
Department of Natural Resources DIVISION OF RECLAMATIONMINING AND SAFETY
Re: Castle Rock Const. Co. of Colo. LLC,Yocam Barrow pit, permit#M-2018-020-SLO1
This is in response to a letter I received dated Aug. 15, 2019 from Brock F. Bowles,
environmental protection specialist.
The letter claims Castle Rock Const. is asking for a release from their responsibility in the
reclamation of their barrow pit which they dug on me for the new construction of a section of State
hwy. 144 south of Orchard.
The Barrow pit was reshaped to my satisfaction but I repeatedly told them to reseed it with
native plants and grass that were there prior to excavation,
This is a large cattle ranch and it's grasses are its lifeblood. What was planted was merely a
cover crop to keep it from blowing and this was pointed out to gentleman who visited the site in July. I
made it clear it was not acceptable. He wanted to mow it and then plant in grass on top of it as the
plants were sparse.
I said this was acceptable and he left. And here we are, nothing. It is not up to us to sell off
portions of our herd to accommodate them. The plants are sparse and in no way comparable in quality
or volume quantity as to what was there.
I do object to their release and claim this as not sufficint.
Respectfully submitted.
John Yocam: owner
