The weather was overcast, dry and warm.
The status of the Elk Creek Mine is "active"however no coal is being mined and the only activity since the last
inspection was site maintenance.
SUPPORT FACILITIES -Rule 4.04:
Three sites that are the subject of discussion with Vessels Carbon Solutions Inc. were inspected.
The first was on BLM land, on the east side of Hubbard Creek, at the junction of a powerline access road.
The disturbed area had been clearly marked with white posts and was stable and well vegetated. According to Mr
Smith the vegetation had recently been sampled with a view to a Phase II bond release application.
The second was further up Hubbard Creek, on Oxbow land, at the location of the Hubbard Creek fan. The
reclamation here also looked ripe for bond release, with excellent vegetative cover in particular.
The third site was on the road up Bear Creek, on BLM land. The disturbance boundary markers here
spread over several acres on both sides of the road. The south-west facing slope was steep and very well vegetated.
The thermal oxidizer facility at the Bear Creek fan site was not running.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
N/A
OTHER(SPECIFY)
N/A
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 6
