Native grass community along the northern Pierre Shale slopes of Bradford Mesa. <br /> View to the southeast, photo captured 190613. <br /> The plant community on site consists of but is not limited to native grasses, forbs, and shrubs. <br /> Grasses on site include: little bluestem, blue grama, western wheatgrass, side oats grama, Indian <br /> ricegrass, sand dropseed, prairie junegrass,needle and thread, green needlegrass, galleta, and <br /> bottlebrush squirreltail. Shrubs and other species include: slimflower scurfpea, dotted gayfeather, <br /> scarlet globemallow, broom snakewwed, winterfat, Indian paintbrush, hairy gold aster, purple <br /> prairie, yucca, chollas and other forbs.
