COLORADO
Division of Reclaftmtion,
Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Graham Roberts
Trapper Mining Inc.
P.O. Box 187
Craig, CO 81626
14 August 2019
Re: Trapper Mine (Permit No. C1981-010)
Review of 2019 Q2 Discharge Monitoring Reports
Dear Mr. Roberts:
The Division has received and reviewed Trapper Mines 2019 Q2 Discharge Monitoring Report
(DMR) for the Trapper Mine. The report covers the period from April through June 2019. The
Discharge Monitoring Report was received by the Division on 6 August 2019.
Trapper submits the DMRs to the Division quarterly in accordance with Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(iii).
Trapper reported that three outfalls discharged during the quarter; outfalls 001, 002 and 011.
Trapper reported that primary effluent limitations were exceeded at two outfalls during the quarter.
9 April 2019 samples showed exceedances of TS S and total iron at outfalls 011 and 020. These
exceedances occurred in response to snowmelt or, precipitation events that increased snowmelt.
Photo documentation provided with the submitted DMR report and DDRMS own site visits
corroborate a heavy winter snowpack, persisting late into the spring of this year. TDS values for
active outfalls were reported. Alternate limitation for settleable solids, applicable for discharge
events caused by precipitation or snowmelt was met at all outfalls. No exceedances of primary
effluent limitations for pH occurred during the quarter.
All outfalls have been properly maintained and no ponds exceeded the 60%threshold for sediment
accumulation.
The Division does not have any questions or further comments at this time. If you have any
questions or need additional information, please contact me.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: /mining.state.co.us
Jared S.
