PERMIT#:M-1981-179
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: August 7,2019
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection of the Meckelberg#1 Pit, an active, 113 acre, 112c sand and gravel
permit operated by Yuma County. DRMS toured the site with Yuma County Road and Bridge Supervisor Don
Marr. The site identification sign was present at the site entrance (photo 1) and the permit boundary has
been marked with steel T-posts.
Although the site does not appear to have been recently active, mining is progressing according to the
approved mining plan. Material has been utilized from existing product stockpiles as can be seen in photo 2,
and the topsoil and overburden piles are vegetated and stable (photo 3).
All activity at the site to-date has been conducted on the south side of the intermittent stream channel, and
the buffer zones between the road and stream channel have been well maintained. Undisturbed areas of the
permit are covered in native grasses and are stable. No problems were identified during this inspection.
Mr. Marr provided DRMS with an internal report summarizing recent activity conducted by the county at the
pit that will be entered into the site file with this report.
Inspection Contact Address
Don Marr
Yuma County
1310 S.Blake St.
Wray,CO 80758
