Martinez Western
June 10, 2019
Page 2
"Utility Trench"is approximately 60 feet south of the southern"Newly Affected Lands" area at
its closest point. The"River Place LLC Fence"is approximately 50 feet north of the northern
"Newly Affected Lands"area at its closest point. The"Mary Ann Sink Trust Fence"is
approximately adjacent to the west edge of the northern"Newly Affected Lands" area at its
closest points. The"Ducray Driveway"is approximately adjacent to the southwest edge of the
southern"Newly Affected Lands" area at its closest point. These features are shown on
Figure 1.
Cut Slope Review: The recently modified slopes in the"Newley Affected Areas"have been
graded at 3 horizontal (H) to 1 vertical (V) and flatter. The maximum height of the slopes in the
"Newley Affected Areas"is about 8 feet. The soils exposed in the cut slope faces consisted
primarily of silty sand and gravel with scattered cobbles. The slopes appear stable at their
current grades and no signs of seepage from the cut slopes was observed.
The structures shown on Figure 1 and described above are relatively far away from the cut
slopes. The fence along the west side of the"Newly Affected Areas"does not appear to have
been impacted by the cut slopes. The cut slopes adjacent to the fence appear stable and no signs
of slope failure or erosion were observed near the fence. Based on the cut slope heights and
relatively flat grades and the exposed soil conditions, in our opinion, the finished cut slopes in
the"Newly Affected Areas"do not pose a risk to the structures on the subject site or nearby
adjacent properties.
Limitations: This review was conducted in according to generally accepted geotechnical
engineering principles and practices in this area at this time.
