Figure 1 shows the location of the sampling grids that were established on top of the
stockpile and Figure 2 presents the median uranium concentration measured in each grid.
The 34 measurements taken in the full and partials grids shown on Figure 1 ranged from
0 to 443 ppm uranium and averaged 124 ppm. Table 1 lists the median values for each
grid point starting in the northwest corner of the grid. The column at the right of the table
totals the individual measurements for each row and is used to calculate the average
uranium concentration for the area, which is shown in the bottom right corner of the table.
Table 1 - Uranium Concentrations on Top of Low-Grade Stockpile (ppm)
NW Corner of Grid > > NE Corner of Grid Totals
379 58 97 119 84 0 737
104 123 24 146 121 186 704
69 48 52 123 30 46 368
117 51 111 39 167 443 928
35 66 106 25 252 166 650
340 151 254 76 821
SW Corner of Grid > > SE Corner of Grid
Average Uranium Concentration (ppm) 124
Due to the steepness of the stockpile slopes, it was impractical and unsafe to try and
establish sampling grids in these areas. Individual XRF measurements were made.while
carefully traversing the slope areas. A total of 19 measurements were made on the
northwest to northeast and east facing slopes as shown on Figure 2. As shown in Table
2, concentrations ranged in value from 25 ppm to 202 ppm uranium with an average of
95 ppm.
Table 2 - Uranium Concentrations (ppm)
Low-Grade Stockpile Slopes
NW Slope N Slope NE Slope E Slope Totals
39 133 89 50 311
202 104 71 109 486
170 91 173 91 525
59 51 157 267
100 31 25 156
52 52
Average Uranium Concentration ppm) 95
In addition, 31 XRF measurements were made around the entire perimeter of the
stockpile as shown on Figure 2. These results are presented in Table 3 for each of the 4
quadrants of the stockpile. The uranium concentrations ranged in value from 16 ppm to
437 ppm and averaged 116 ppm. The placement of the development rock cover extended
the toe of the stockpile by 10 to 25 feet in some areas. That is why most of the perimeter
measurements are located just outside the original toe of the stockpile on Figure 2.
5
