EXHIBIT B
SITE DESCRIPTION
(a) Attached general soil map from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation
Service shows the soil characteristics for the area of the proposed operation in S24 T16
R43 (Exhibit B, Attachment A). The soil type, Haverson loam is detailed below.
Haverson Series
The Haverson series consists of deep, well drained soils on level and nearly level stream
terraces and flood plains. These soils formed in mixed alluvium. Slope is 0-1 percent.
The average annual precipitation is 13 to 17 inches.
Haverson soils are near Satanta, Bankard, Glenberg, and Fort Collins soils. Satanta soils
have a mollic surface layer. Satanta and Fort Collins soils have an argillic horizon.
Bankard and Glenberg soils have more sand throughout than the Haverson soils.
Haverson soils are fine-loamyh, mixed (calcareous), mesic Ustic Torrifluvents.
The Haverson series consists of very deep, well drained soils that formed in alluvium
from mixed sources. Haverson soils are on floodplains and low terraces and have slopes
of 0 to 9 percent. The mean annual precipitation is about 15 inches and the mean annual
air temperature is about 49 degrees F. These soils are used as native
pastureland/grassland, dry farm land or irrigated cropland. Native vegetation is mixed
grasses, cottonwoods and brush. The vegetation at the mine site is native pastureland.
(b) The surface landowner of affected mining site has a man-made barbed wired fence
structure within 200 feet of the proposed operation area. The fence runs along the
eastern and northern boundaries of the mining site boundary extending westward north
of the access roadway outside the active mining boundary.
(c) The attached map and data from the local United States Department of Agriculture
Natural Resource Conservation District office shows the water resources for the
proposed operation area(Exhibit B, Attachment B). The White Woman Creek passes
nearby the proposed area and is dry.
(d) Wildlife statement prepared by the Colorado Division of Wildlife not required.
