7/18/2019 State.co.us Executive Branch Mail-Bowie No.2 Inspection report for July 10,2019 Inspection
: ' ►; O STATE F
STATE DO DRMS—CoalAdmin - DNR, DNR<dnr-drms—coal—admin@state.co.us>
COLO
Bowie No. 2 Inspection report for July 10, 2019 Inspection
1 message
Binns -DNR, Janet <janet.binns@state.co.us> Wed, Jul 17, 2019 at 1:50 PM
To: Basil Bear<basilbear@wolverinefuels.com>, laserfische <dnr-drms—coal—admin@state.co.us>
Hello Basil,
Please find the Division's Inspection report for the Bowie No. 2 mine, C1996-083, partial inspection
conducted on 7/10/2019. As noted in the report, and I mentioned to Art when I checked off the site,
keep managing the weeds. Scotch thistle are finding a foothold on Gob pile 2 and 4. Russian knapweed
has become established on the South and East sides of Pond D.
There is a sediment build up at the south end of the smart ditch on gob pile 2. The runoff down the smart
ditch currently is still directed to the east to the East collection ditch, however, I have concerns that the
berm could breach if more sediment is permitted to build up. Other than those items, things were looking
pretty good. Please contact me if you should have any questions regarding the inspection report.
And, beginning in August, we will be making another mine assignment change. Rob Zuber will be lead
inspector for the Bowie No. 1 and Bowie No. 2 Mines. I believe you have met Rob previously. He is a PE,
and is one of the Division's surface water specialists. I will still be reviewing soil and vegetation revisions
and bond releases, and inspecting out in the West End, and Durango. I anticipate that I will accompany
Rob in August to help show him where everything is at the two Bowie mines. Let me know if you have any
questions.
Janet Binns
Environmental Protection Specialist III
Coal Regulatory Program
P 303.866.3567 ext 8107 1 F 303.832.8106
1313 Sherman St., Room 215, Denver, CO 80203
janet.binns@state.co.us I http://mining.state.co.us
C 0 L 0 R A D 0
Division of Reclamation,
C40
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
J CP-07102019—Report.pdf
1813K
https://mail.google.com/mail/b/AH1 rexSxoWguUBzo8opn5AYOBOogUQHEwN33bYVAHOUZY41g-yhW/u/O?ik=deb7fOcd20&view=pt&search=all&perm... 1/1
