PERMIT#: M-2005-059
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:ECS
INSPECTION DATE:July 10,2019
monitoring plan. This weed control plan shall be submitted to the Division as a Technical Revision to the
approved plan with the appropriate Technical Revision fee of$216.00 by the corrective action date.
CORRECTIVE ACTION DUE DATE: 9/30/19
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine site monitoring inspection conducted by DRMS at the Nelson Mining Resource site. The
inspection was conducted by Eric Scott of CDRMS. The DRMS representative met with Greg Geras of Asphalt
Specialties at the site at approximately 1400. The site entrance is located off the north side of County Road 26
immediately west of the intersection of County Roads 26 and 15. The site is fenced and the identification sign
was present at the site entrance.
Only about 50% of this site has been disturbed to date, the rest remains undisturbed agricultural land. The pit,
which had been flooded during the Temporary Cessation interval, has been pumped dry. The operator was
actively mining and processing material in the north end of the permit with large stockpiles located along the
northwest corner of the permit area. The site appears to be in compliance with the mining plan, however
there is refuse/trash located at the site (photos 2-4) that will need to be removed and properly disposed of. A
small area of stained soils due to oil or hydraulic fluid leakage near the operational area will also need to be
cleaned up.
Weed control activities need to be implemented and maintained at the site to control thistle, bindweed,
tamarisk and other listed noxious species. No other issues were noted during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Greg Geras
Asphalt Specialties Co., Inc.
10100 Dallas St.
Henderson,CO 80640
