PERMIT#: M-1983-139
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: July 1, 2019
OBSERVATIONS
This was a partial release inspection conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS at the request of the City of Arvada.
Arvada submitted an acreage reduction request for 266 reclaimed acres on June 14, 2019. DRMS sent release
notices to the appropriate parties on June 18, 2019 and to date, no comments or objections have been
received by the Division. The site entrance is located approximately 1.5 north of W 68th Ave on the east side
of Highway 93 in Jefferson County.
The permitted land is owned by the City of Arvada and no mining has taken place since approximately 2014.
DRMS approved TR05 for the site on May 21, 2019 to finalize the acreages that would be utilized as
industrial/commercial by Pioneer Sand and Gravel, and utilized as a snowplow training area (SW corner of
permit) by the City of Arvada after release from the permit.
The regrading and revegetation of the reclaimed portion of the permit area has been successfully completed
(photos 2-5) although weed control efforts should be maintained across the site to make sure knapweed and
other noxious species do not become more prevalent.
Posts have been placed by Arvada to delineate the remaining permit area. Because the remaining permit area
is irregularly shaped, it may be useful to place additional markers between some of the existing posts so that
the remaining permit area is more easily identified in the future.
The remaining permit area is still undergoing revegetation. Reclamation vegetation was observed in several of
these areas, however it will require more time to become fully established. Any Russian olive trees within the
remaining permitted area should also be removed as they are considered a noxious species at this time.
No other issues were noted during this inspection. DRMS will approve the acreage reduction request as
submitted. Please ensure that any future submittals to the Division reflect the new permit boundary.
Inspection Contact Address
Cliff Deeds
City of Arvada
8101 Ralston Rd.
Arvada,CO 80002
Enclosure—Acreage Reduction Approval Letter
Page 2 of 3
