The
inspection was conducted and the report and photos prepared by me,Robin Reilley of the DBMS.
Graham Roberts, Trapper Mine representative was present throughout the inspection. Skies were clear
and temperatures ranged between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Ash and coal were being hauled and
spoil being transported and dumped. A blast was observed in the L dip pit, permit and blasting records
were checked.
OUTSTANDING MAINTENANCE ITEMS:
Culverts
o Previous inspections identified several abraded culverts along the main haul road. Some
culverts were replaced in 2018 during the time a portion of the power plant was temporarily
decommissioned (SA4).
o Constructed drainages in parcel LA 18 exhibited compromised check dams, erosional
features and the north facing slope had several significant rills and gullies across its extent.
o A contour ditch and a check dam, in drainage MF2' was breached in parcel LA 18. This
occurred at the transition between more established reclamation and the newly seeded
LA 18 reclamation.
NEW MAINTENANCE ITEMS:
o Maintenance on the above previously identified erosional issues had not been completed
due to spring conditions making slopes not safe for heavy equipment.
o The crack noted in the previous month's inspection appeared not to have changed and
vegetation had grown vigorously around the area. TMI will continue monitoring the area
for changes.
o Deltas were identified in ponds Deal and Middle Flume.
o Sediment markers were not visible in ponds visited.
o Secondary containment issues identified, see below in support facilities section.
o Impoundment H has Elaeagnus angustifolia growing on the north and south banks.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
