To: 2810 Crowley LGPD 2 -3 File 2019-001 2
Implementation will commence once the Plan of Operations is authorized. The Plan of
Operations will be authorized for a three (3) year period, which will end on December 3 1" three
(3) years after the Plan of Operations is signed. Once the Plan of Operations period of
authorization has expired, and if there have been no changes to the MPO, the existing analysis
will be reviewed for sufficiency to determine if it is adequate to re-authorize the LGPD 2 -3
Mine Plan of Operations for a further five years.
BACKGROUND:
John Crowley, agent, has submitted a complete proposal on April 2, 2019,to renew his Plan of
Operations to mine gemstones near Crystal Creek on the LGPD #2 unpatented mining claim.
The unpatented mining claim is found in portions of Section 17, T12S, R71 W, 6`f'Principal
Meridian, approximately 1.6 miles north-northwest of Lake George, in Park County. The mining
operation may be accessed on a non-system access route, approximately 1.1 miles (5857 feet)
long x 12 feet wide. The operator has written permission from the adjacent private land owner to
use his private road to access the National Forest. Total disturbance for access will be
approximately 1.62 acres. Total project disturbance will be 3.5 acres.
The operator proposes to use mechanized equipment(backhoe)to excavate a maximum of
twelve sites (12—30' x 40' x 10'), within 2 areas with approximate dimensions of 200' x 400'
for a total disturbance of 1.83 acres (80,000 SF) near Lake George, Colorado over a period of 3
years. The operator will use one John Deer 310J Backhoe (or similar)to remove overburden and
expose pegmatite zones. Once a pocket is located, the operator will then use hand tools to
extract and dry screen the gems and minerals. All pockets will be removed from the site daily
and each zone will be fully reclaimed before moving to the next zone of interest. The general
workforce will consist of 1 to 2 people for a maximum of 30 days per season. All trash and
sanitation is removed daily and disposed of off the National Forest. All backfill/reclamation of
the excavations will occur within 5 days of completed mining operations and/or before the end of
each mining season—October 15.
All access routes are temporary and will be fully reclaimed at the end of the project.
JOSHUA S.
