The Southfield Mine was an underground mine which
the Division has revoked the bond and terminated the permit. Therefore,no mine operator remains. All bond
monies available to the Division will be utilized as needed for reclamation and maintenance activities. The
weather was clear and ground conditions were dry. Temperatures during the inspection were around seventy
degrees fahrenheit. The gated entrance at the county road to the southern portion of the permit was locked and the
access code no longer works. This portion of the site was not inspected due to no access.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The road spur remains heavily vegetated with no issues. The two-track road to the MW-NW off of County Road
15 has not been reclaimed however due to lack of use,the road has begun to "self-heal". Vegetation has begun to
establish itself to the point where it blends in with the adjacent undisturbed land at certain areas. The MW-NW pad
itself continues to establish itself with more vegetation as well. Overall, this area is stable with no erosion.
The substation pad is stable with established vegetation. There were no signs of erosion or issues along the pad.
The associated reclaimed substation road has been disturbed by vehicle use.Portion of the reclaimed section is
used to connect to what appears to be landowner two-track roads and recreation trails.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 3
