Tom Bird of GCC accompanied
Rob in the field at King I. Gus Guzman accompanied Rob at King II. The weather was clear and the ground was
mostly dry.

Considerable activity was taking place at the mine during the inspection. At King I, equipment operators were
moving waste material onto the Refuse Pile. A sign at the entrance notified staff and visitors of mechanical brush
and tree thinning; this was not taking place during the inspection, but recent construction above the Refuse Pile
was evident. This has entailed construction of the clear water channel (north of the Refuse Pile) and clearing of
the hill to the south of the Refuse Pile. The air jig was in operation at King II.

AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION – Rule 4.17:
Roads were well watered, including CR120.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
At the King I entrance, the berms to direct runoff to sumps appear to be working.

At the King I Mine, the West and East Ponds were dry. No problems were seen with the ponds’ structures (e.g., no
rills on the embankment, no obstruction of the spillways). Vegetation growth on the East Pond dam is very good.

The following ditches and culverts were inspected at King I: Reach 1, Reach 2, Reach 3, Reach 4, Reach 5, Reach
7, Reach 10, and Reach 13. The inlet to Reach 9 needs to be cleaned of sediment. No other problems were
