Mark A. Heifner
37 East Colorado Avenue Denver, Colorado 80210-3105 (303) 777-3371 or(303) 906-8096
June 19,2019
Division of Reclamation,Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street
Room 215
Denver,CO 80203
RE: Partial Release Request for Coal Creek Resources
Permit:M-1988-044
Dear Sirs:
Enclosed are two copies of a request for release of 32 acres of reclaimed land at this operation in Arapahoe
County. The land was planted in 2014 and seems to now be ready for release. It has been a bit slower to
develop than is usually the case for this site due to a couple of very unfavorable growing seasons, but with the
additional time a vegetation cover highly comparable to other areas that were released in the past has been
achieved. It was planted with a seed mix like the other sites and has developed a cover that is similar in
composition to the more natural vegetation at the Lowry Range, just like the others. There is little reason to
think it will not continue to develop toward a growth that is highly similar to the native vegetation.
This is the last of the older reclaimed areas at this operation. As the operation is now closed all that is left is to
reclaim the final disturbances. So,at this time there is no other affected land that has been planted and no land
is currently ready to be planted. It shouldn't be very long though before the current backfilling, grading, and
topsoiling are completed in the working pit and it can be planted. Then there will only be the processing site
to finish.
Please let us know when you wish to inspect the reclamation and somebody will meet you and go over the
area with you.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
llw
Mark A.
