EXHIBIT B
SITE DESCRIPTION
(a) The attached general soil map from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil
Conservation Service shows the soil characteristics for the area of the proposed operation
in S33 T13 R43 (Exhibit B, Attachment A). The soil type,Bankard-Glenberg complex is
detailed below.
Bankard Series
The bankard series consists of deep, somewhat excessively drained soils on low terraces
and fans bordering intermittent drainageways. These soils formed in sandy alluvium.
Slope is 0 to 1 percent. The average annual precipitation is about 13 to 17 inches.
Bankard soils are near Glenberg, Haverson, and Sampson soils. Glenberg soils have a
course-loamy control section. Sampson soils are pachic. Haverson soils have a fine-
loamy control section.
Bankard soils are sandy, mixed, mesic Ustic Torrifluvents.
Glenberg Series
The Glenberg series consists of deep, well drained soils on low terraces and flood plains.
These soils formed in sandy alluvium. Slope is 0 to 1 percent. The average annual
precipitation is 13 to 17 inches.
Glenberg soils are near Bankard, Valent, and Haverson soils. Bankard soils have less
clay in the control section than the Glenberg soils. Valent soils are not stratified.
Haverson soils are more clayey than the Glenberg soils.
Glenberg soils are coarse-loamy, mixed(calcareous), mesic Ustic Torrifluvents.
The Bankard-Glenberg description from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation
Service Web Soil Survey is outlined in the Exhibit B, Attachment A.
(b) There are no permanent man-made structures within 200 feet of the proposed
operation area.
(c) The attached map and data from Colorado Division of Water Resources map shows the
water resources for the proposed operation area(Exhibit B, Attachment B). The Smoky
Hill River passes near the proposed area but is dry. No other water resources are near
the proposed mining site.
(d) Wildlife statement prepared by the Colorado Division of Wildlife not required.
