June 13, 2019 C-1981-035/King Coal Mine RDZ <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4 <br /> <br /> Page 3 of 7 <br /> <br />The East and West Clearwater Ditches at King II appears to be functioning well; no signs of erosion or other <br />problems were seen. <br /> <br />The King II pond was holding a small amount of water. No issues were found with the embankment. <br /> <br /> <br />GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: <br />The new clear water ditch that is under construction on the north side of the Refuse Pile is approximately 100 feet <br />beyond (north of) the existing ditch, Reach 1. This is within the approved limits of disturbance, per Map King I- <br />007 in the PAP; according to this map the approved disturbance line is approximately 120 feet north of Reach 1. <br /> <br />The new disturbance on the south side of the Refuse Pile is approximately 60 feet beyond (south of) the existing <br />ditch, Reach 10. This is well within the approved limits of disturbance, per Map King I-007 in the PAP; according <br />to this map the approved disturbance line is approximately 200 feet south of Reach 10. <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3), Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and <br />(6)/4.03.2(5) and (6), Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />No problems were seen with King I or King II roads. <br /> <br />SUBSIDENCE – Rule 4.20: <br />No damage from subsidence was seen in the affected areas near King I or King II. <br /> <br />SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12: <br />The steep slopes at King I appeared stable. These include slopes near former portal areas and the shop bench. <br />Photo angles did not allow inspection of the steep slopes at King II. <br /> <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br />No erosion or other problems were seen at the King I or King II facilities areas. <br /> <br />TOPSOIL – Rule 4.06 <br />Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution 4.06.4: <br />At King I, the berms around the Plant Growth Medium Storage Areas near the old Tipple Bench and near the <br />Burnwell #1Tippel appear to be functioning well. <br /> <br />No problems were seen with the Topsoil Stockpiles at King II. They appear to be well vegetated, and there are no <br />signs that the soil has been transported off the piles by runoff. <br />
