June 10, 2019 C-1981-025/North Thompson Creek Mine JHB

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4

The east end had much less orange staining and no noticeable smell. There was no apparent flow through the long
pond emergency spillway or ditch.

Water was flowing via pipe from the long pond to T1 cell. The west end of the T-1 cell contains cattails, but the
east end is open water. Water flowing from T1 through the open channel to T2 was clear. Water flowing in T2
was clear with very little sediment in the treatment cell and an absence of orange staining. No pumping from T2
was occurring, nor did it appear that any pumping had occurred in a long time.

Water from T2 flows into Pond 9. The water in [pond 9 was very clear with no cattails in Pond 9. Water from
Pond 9 was flowing to the ditch and eastward. None of the treated water was spilling into North Thompson Creek.

The treatment system appears to be functioning without problems.

RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The water treatment system appears to be functioning appropriately. Other than the changes at the west
end of the long pond, all looks unchanged from the last inspection in the fall of 2018. The changes at the west end
of the long pond are in agreement with the configuration shown on the approved map D-2-5.

REVEGETATION – Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
Vegetation within the reclaimed area looks good and healthy. This past winter had a very high snowpack.
As a result the vegetation in the reclaimed area has come on very well, recovered from fall grazing and has a good
diversity of plants. An occasional bull thistle was encountered but overall the site has few weeds. Minrec will
need to assure that vegetation reestablishes in the recently graded area west of the long pond. No cattle were on
the site at the time of the inspection, nor did it appear that cattle had been on the area yet this spring.

DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER (SPECIFY) NA

ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE

No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
