Protection of Groundwater Resources
As further described in Exhibit B, no continuously flowing groundwater source ("groundwater source") is
expected to be encountered while developing the underground workings. In the unlikely event that a
groundwater source is encountered, AMR will immediately notify the Division and cease further
advancement of the underground workings.
AMR is committed to preventing water from discharging from the underground workings to the surface.
To ensure this commitment,AMR has designed a bulkhead assembly(Attachment C6)to permanently seal
the drift at or very near to a groundwater source, if encountered. Upon notifying the Division of
encountering a groundwater source,AMR will install the bulkhead at or as close to the groundwater source
as possible with the objective of sealing the underground workings at the groundwater source and
preventing a reservoir from backing up behind the bulkhead. The precise location of the bulkhead will be
determined by the location of the groundwater source and the integrity of the surrounding rock. If
groundwater is encountered and a bulkhead is installed, no further advancement of the underground
workings will occur without AMR first receiving additional approval from the Division.
Acid-Mine Drainage
AMR is committed to preventing this operation from causing acid mine drainage. A major factor in the
location and aspects of the proposed operation were determined by the presence of inert rock in the affected
areas. As further described in Exhibit B, the topsoil and bedrock encountered in the affected areas do not
leach metals or acid.
To ensure that the waste rock brought to surface from underground does not leach metals or produce acid,
AMR will complete representative Acid Base Accounting (ABA) and SPLP leachate analysis of rock
encountered at every 300 feet of underground advancement. The methods and suite of ABA and SPLP
analyses will be identical to the those relied upon for the characterization of topsoil and bedrock in Exhibit
B.
In the event that waste rock is inadvertently dumped on the waste rock dump that could potentially leach
metals and/or produce acid ("non-inert rock"), AMR will immediately notify the Division and cease the
dumping of additional waste rock on the dump. After which, using heavy equipment,AMR will gather and
isolate the non-inert rock on the dump and blend it with the abundant inert rock present beneath the dump.
The ratio of blending will be determined by the chemical characteristics of the waste rock and will be done
to the extent necessary to render the composite of the blended rock inert. If this event occurs,no additional
dumping will occur on the waste rock dump without AMR first receiving additional approval from the
Division.
Processing
Drill samples and bulk samples will be shipped off-site for processing and analysis. No on-site crushing,
washing, screening, leaching or other milling processes are proposed for this operation.
Commodities
The principal commodity to be mined from this proposed operation is silver.
