Bdghton
Parks & Recreation
500 South 4th Avenue Brighton, CO 80601
303-655-2049
www.brightonco.gov
March 28, 2019
Mr. Joe Lamonna
General Manager Aggregates
11778 Highway 52
Fort Lupton, CO. 8062
RE: Trail Construction in the Ken Mitchell Open Space
Dear Mr. Lamonna:
Now that the mining of the Ken Mitchell Open Space is complete the City of Brighton is
requesting approval to construct a 10'wide concrete pedestrian/bike trail on the west side .
of cell 2 and on the west and south side of cell 3. The future use of the site will be a
regional Park with the Colorado Front Range Trail through the area. As the reclamation is
being complete we would like to construct the trail. The City has a contractor ready to
begin construction of the trial in May and complete in mid-August. The City will not open
the tail to public use until the reclamation is complete the mining permit is closed. It is
important that the City construct the trail within these time frames as we have grants to
fund the construction that will expire at the end of August 2019.
I have attached the construction document for the trail along with a no-raise letter
indicating the trail construction will not affect the flood plan. Also attached is the master
plan document for the regional park.
Please let me know if I can provide any additional information to assist in the approval of
the trail construction.
Sincerely,
Gary War le, Director
Parks and Recreation
City of Brighton
enclosures
