-r,LZ g Y?,COLORADO LEGACY LAND
• On page 2, the sentence "The operation intercepts 'clean' surface flows and alluvial..." should be
revised to more accurately read, "The operation intercepts upgradient surface flows and alluvial...".
This text more accurately reflects the presence of natural uranium in the Ralston Creek watershed and
provides a more technical description of the water source.
• On page 2,the sentence"The dedicated winch system will be installed adjacent to the Jeffery Air Shaft
on a concrete footer"should be revised to read,"The dedicated winch system is adjacent to the Jeffery
Air Shaft on a concrete footer".
• On page 3,the sentence"The red-colored water was flowing at an estimated rate of 1-2 gpm..."should
be revised to more accurately read,"No estimation instruments or measurements were used during
the time of the inspection. However, the red-colored water was observed to be a slow trickle.
Additionally,red-staining is observed by the operator Alexco in the Ralston Creek drainage, including
upgradient of the property".
• One page 3,the sentence"The Division believe the ponded water may be impacted due to it's coloration
and algae growth"should be deleted. Green algae is not indicative of dissolved uranium in water and
is observed (by the operator Alexco) in Ralston Creek and pools upgradient of the property. The
presence of green algae is more indicative of anoxic aquatic conditions, small scale eutrophication,or
nutrient-rich water.
• On page 3,the text"The operator acknowledged that, while water has never been observed seeping
from the NWRP,iron staining has been observed on the side of the pile indicating that seeps do occur"
should be revised to read,"The operator acknowledged that water has never been observed seeping
from the NWRP". Operators have not observed any iron staining on the NWRP, this text should be
removed.
• One page 3, the text "This seep was described as flowing at an estimated rate of 2 gpm" should be
removed as no estimation instruments or measurements were used during the time of the inspection.
If you have any questions regarding this response, please don't hesitate to contact me.
