PERMIT #: M-1995-034
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: March 28, 2019
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection of the Bachus Pit; DRMS file No. M-1995-034 operated by Absmeier
Landscaping Construction, LLC. This is a 60.61 acre 112c mining operation located approximately 1/2 mile
southwest of Alamosa, Colorado in Alamosa County. I, Stephanie Mitchell of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) conducted the inspection. Adrian Absmeier accompanied me on
the inspection.
The Mine Identification sign was located at the entrance to the mine site, however the pervious Operator was
listed as the Operator. There was a permit transfer in 2017. This is considered a problem and is listed at the
beginning of the inspection report. Please update the Mine ID sign with current information. All activity is
within the permit boundaries.
The current disturbance is located in the eastern portion of the permit area and is approximately 20 acres in
size, and moving to the west. The excavation is about 20 feet deep with a vertical highwall. The highwall
appears to be in the western part of the permit area. The site is frequented by Adams State College geology
students for Lake Alamosa sediment deposit observations. Topsoil is not required to be stripped and salvaged.
No erosion or sedimentation issues were observed.
There was no equipment or fuel on site.
All other activities and completed work at the time of inspection appeared to follow the guidelines and
regulations set forth by the state and in the mining and reclamation plans for the pit.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone number (970) 242-5025.
