are expected to exist for longer than one year, they will be seeded with a fast growing seed mix.
Reclamation will occur once all mining has been completed. Fremont will use a contractor to
blast the quarry at a 3H:1V grade. The highwalls will remain vertical during mining operations,
but will be reclaimed to a 3H:1V grade.
An external haul road from the site to Las Animas County Road 185 has been constructed. The
road is 30 feet wide. Where the haul road intersects the county road, Fremont constructed a
2%valley pan with base course.
No permanent structures will be necessary. Portable scales and sanitary facilities will be
brought onsite during operation and removed when completed.
Normal hours of operation during construction are proposed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday
through Saturday. Hours may extend into Sunday if an emergency demands additional hours.
As many as 6 employees will operate the site during a one shift day.
In the event noxious weeds appear, they will be managed mechanically and/or chemically as
directed by the Las Animas County Noxious Weed Coordinator, Robert Lucero, and allowed by
the property owner.
Fugitive dust will be controlled by posting vehicle speed limit signs at 10 miles per hour
throughout the site and a long haul roads, water spray application will be used at active
extraction faces, stockpiles, and roads using a water truck. Fremont will purchase the water
and haul it onsite for use. It is anticipated that approximately 10,000 gallons will be use daily
for dust control. Stockpiles will be seeded if they are anticipated to exist for longer than one
year. Haul roads will be graveled. These air quality control measures will also be included in
the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Air Pollution Control Division
permit and fugitive dust plan.
Stormwater management will be accomplished using best management practices which could
include perimeter berms constructed of straw bales, waddles or overburden to direct any
surface runoff from the affected area. All diversionary structures will be temporary and will be
removed during reclamation.
