2.05.3
The Operator obtained a lease modification to move the lease line
approximately one quarter mile to the east. After mining resumes, the 2nd
East Mains will be advanced towards the east lease line. Mining will then be
turned to the south in the 1st South Mains. There are five years or more of
mining to the south as shown on Figure 2-1-1. The applicant cannot predict
when mining will resume.
The coal reserve west of the graben will be evaluated for economic recovery
before final mine closure. The 2 West Mains will be extended to the graben
to determine if crossing the graben is feasible. A decision will be made at a
later date whether to drive ramps to the lower seam off of the 1st North
Entries. This block of coal may be developed depending on data collected
during the advance of the 1 st North Entries. Any decision to abandon these
areas will be made in consultation with the BLM.
Because of the variable geologic conditions that exist within the McClane
Canyon Mine reserve block, panels are designed so that known areas of
adverse mining conditions will be intersected near the end of the panels. This
design will allow adjustment of panel length to fit the reserve and enhance
the recovery ratio in the area. The panels shown on Figure 2.1-1 were
designed with "square"ends. The ends of these panels may be angled to fit
irregular features.
The following table shows the major equipment to be used in the mine and
on the surface.
MR-61 Mifferm 2.05-5- 03/19
