2.05.5 Postmining Land Uses <br />(1) Surface Coal Mining Activities - Not applicable. <br />(2) Underground Mining Activities <br />(a) The premining land use of the area disturbed and to be disturbed by the <br />surface facilities is rangeland and fish and wildlife habitat. The postmining <br />land use of the area will be the same, rangeland and fish and wildlife <br />habitat. <br />Three major vegetation communities will be disturbed, Greasewood <br />Shrubland, Shadscale Shrubland and Juniper Woodland. The final <br />reclamation of these areas will provide habitat suitable for rangeland and <br />fish and wildlife habitat. <br />(a)(i) The proposed postmining land use will be achieved by reclaiming the <br />disturbed area and planting same in accordance with the reclamation plan <br />presented in section 2.05.4. No special support activities are necessary to <br />achieve the proposed land use. <br />(a)(ii) Not Applicable <br />(a)(iii) The proposed surface coal mining and reclamation operations are <br />consistent with the surface owner plans and programs. The surface is <br />federal land managed by the BLM. <br />When the mine reserves are exhausted the Applicant plans to restore the <br />surface to its highest and best use which is rangeland and fish and wildlife <br />habitat. <br />(b) The BLM will have an opportunity to comment concerning the proposed <br />postmining land use during its review of the permit. <br />The permit area is in Garfield County. The Applicant has a conditional use <br />permit from Garfield County. A copy of the conditional use permit is <br />located in Appendix E. The Division is the State agency which must <br />approve the permit application so its issuance of a permit will be <br />considered its approval of the proposed postmining land use. <br />PR -02 2.05-51 10/12 <br />
