2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND
MINING ACTIVITIES--MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND
RECLAMATION PLANS
2.05.2 Operation Plan - Estimated Area for Life of Operation
(1) Production Methods and Equipment
The McClane Mine is designed to maximize the utilization and conservation
of the coal resources. To achieve this, the Operator will use the best
technology available which will maintain environmental integrity. Mine plan
considerations include personnel and equipment safety and surface
protection where required. The Operator will use room and pillar mining with
belt haulage.
Room and pillar panels will be developed as shown on the mine plan map
Figure 2.1-1. Partial pillar recovery of all workings and barrier pillars will
proceed to the extent allowed by safe mining and surface protection
concerns.
Production from the mine will depend on market conditions. Expected clean
coal production from the mine will be 0.5 million tons per year.
(2) Operation Description
Underground mining will initially be performed in federal coal leases C-
0125439, fee coal and C-012515. The operation initially entered the western
edge of federal coal lease C-0125439. Mining was moved to the south
where the mine has entered the fee coal and federal coal lease C-012515.
Within the federal coal leases and fee coal, the remaining Cameo Seam
reserve area, defined as area blocked out for mining, encompasses
approximately 1,059 acres. Approximately 1,552 acres will be affected by
mining. Figure 2.1-1 shows the anticipated sequence of mining.
MR-61 MidTerm 2.05-1 - 03/19
