3. Describe the estimated topsoil depth and how topsoil will be salvaged, stockpiled and
redistributed for the re-establishment of vegetation. Specify approximate topsoil
redistribution depth:
Topsoil in the affected area has been observed to be highly variable in depth, ranging from extremely shallow to
several feet thick. All project disturbances(roads and drill pads)will be located on variable, sloped terrain and
salvage of all topsoil will be difficult. Roadways will not be fully reclaimed, though they will be stabilized. Road
corridor cuts will be topsoiled and fill slopes will have topsoil incorporated into their surface material. Drill pads will
have topsoil dragged back over the surface. Topsoil replacement in these areas,if topsoil sufficient topsoil was
present to be stripped, will be at least 3 inches.
4. Describe how drill holes will be plugged (refer to Rule 5.4 of the Rules for required
abandonment procedures):
Most, if not all, drill holes are expected to be dry. Dry holes will be backfilled with cuttings, then plugged a few feet
below the collar. Any holes that intercept groundwater will be sealed with bentonite abandonment gel throughout the
wet sections, then backfilled with cuttings in the dry sections, and plugged below the collar. All holes will be backfilled
above the plugs with soil up to the ground surface. Any cutting remaining on the surface will be scattered.
5. Describe how portals, adits, shafts, ponds, excavations, or other disturbances will be
reclaimed (refer to Rule 3 and Rule 5 for specific reclamation performance standards).
You may wish to contact the Division for closure specifications.
na
Form 2—Public File Page 9 of 14
