• Combinations <br /> - Cut stump w/herbicide application <br /> In the event of chemical or herbicide use on site, Summit Brick Company will comply with all <br /> State of Colorado and federal laws and regulations regulating the handling, storage, use and <br /> disposal of those chemicals and herbicides. <br /> 5.0 Preventative Measures <br /> The following preventive measures will be implemented to prevent the spread of noxious weeds <br /> during operation and reclamation activities. <br /> • A copy of the weed management plan will be provided to the mine site manager <br /> and contractors operating on the mine site. <br /> • Summit Brick Company site manager and its contractors will be trained on <br /> control measure to be implemented and preventive measures to be taken, in <br /> accordance with this weed control plan. <br /> • Disturbed areas will be seeded following completion of activities to reduce the <br /> potential for the establishment and spread of noxious weeds, seeding should occur <br /> as soon as possible following completion of activity and during the optimal <br /> seasonal time period. <br /> 6.0 Control Methods During Reclamation <br /> Proper soil management <br /> - Don't spread soils that are already infested if adequate clean soil is available <br /> (pre-treatment will help contaminated soils) <br /> - Maintain positive drainage <br /> Season of reclamation grading and soil replacement, leaching and seed selection <br /> - Avoid April and May and late July(potentially) (Tamarisk flowering and seeding <br /> season although Tamarisk is a prolific seed producer, seed longevity is relatively <br /> short compared to other noxious weeds (3-6 weeks), therefore, if conditions that are <br /> conducive and necessary for seedling establishment(wet or saturated soils) are <br /> managed during the flowering and seed producing season, establishment of new <br /> plants can be greatly reduced) <br /> - Apply topsoil in the fall and seed immediately after application <br />
